Dreamer Moderate Muslim Lady, Old enough to know How Lucky I am for being MUSLIM, and too young and tiny to God Great Creation. I wish that people will stop judging us "Muslims" and "Islam" by Individuals acts… and ignoring that they have "unpleasant" type of people too! A very happy ramadan to you and yours.
Allow me to make some assumptions: if ramadan is to Muslims what Christmas is to (so-called) Christians, there may be different ways to experience it.
To those who see ramadan as coming closer to God by struggling with themselves, may they be blessed with just that.
To those who see ramadan as chilling with friends and family, may they have good times and good relations.
To those who just relax from work and enjoy good food, may they gather strength to carry on.
To those who reflect on their history and culture, may they gain wisdom.
To those who just do what everybody else does, may they enjoy themselves doing it.
Every reason to rejoice and celebrate is good enough for me. But I'm no Muslim so I'm just assuming. Blessings

Well, good assumptions, unfortunately, people see Ramadan in different ways, some consider it as spending times with friends and family as you said and some consider it as watching the newest movies films series and eat different kind of dishes,,, while the real thing is to control your own self and desires and also feel how poor people suffering….besides, it is to be closer to God and start new page with true intentions to be good and leave sins.
We can only try to be like that and ask God to help us and strengthen us.
