Heaven's Lights Heaven's Lights: George Bernard Shaw and "The Genuine Islam"

George Bernard Shaw and "The Genuine Islam"

When I went with my family many years ago in a tourism trip to "…", I found excellent books available everywhere even on the street!!! That was unusual scene for us, so I bought many books at that time, one of that books and my favorite one was about the writers of this world and their funniest stories, I liked so much "George Bernard Shaw" and his acrid criticizing and comments with other people like Winston Churchill, his beautiful secretary and some women…etc.

Then I heard that Shaw said nice things about our Real Perfect Islam and our Great Prophet Mohammed, he said the truth and didn't disfigure the truth for any hidden purposes.

I searched about what he said and I found this :

"I have always held the religion of Muhammad in high estimation because of its wonderful vitality. It is the only religion which appears to me to possess that assimilating capacity to the changing phase of existence which can make itself appeal to every age. I have studied him - the wonderful man and in my opinion far from being an anti-Christ, he must be called the Saviour of Humanity. I believe that if a man like him were to assume the dictatorship of the modern world, he would succeed in solving its problems in a way that would bring it the much needed peace and happiness: I have prophesied about the faith of Muhammad that it would be acceptable to the Europe of tomorrow as it is beginning to be acceptable to the Europe of today."

Sir George Bernard Shaw in 'The Genuine Islam,' Vol. 1, No. 8, 1936.
"If any religion had the chance of ruling over England, nay Europe within the next hundred years, it could be Islam."

There are more, more people said the truth, check out this link:

George Bernard Shaw's political beliefs were of socialism, so his affinity towards Islam fits within the contruct of his beliefs.

He was a splendid writer with a deep religous background -he was Catholic. Which makes since, because he came from Dublin, Ireland.

If you like Bernard Shaw, I also rcommend James Joyce. However, Joyce is hard to read -because he was very experimental. However, his work is genius!

well, brother, i loved Shaw long before knowing his affinity toward our Real Islam and i knew he was Irish,, and He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1925, and although he accepted the award. but refused the money!
i don't know James Joyce or maybe i do! Sometimes I read for people without knowing about them that much, but if any one attracted me somehow, i just love to collect information about him/her biography and read more of his/her works.
Anyhow, thanks for sharing ur information with me!

Bielefeld -Finnegans Wake is my nightmare! My college professor made me memorize a chapter from that book and recite it in front of the class!

It's not an easy book -it's an impossible book -but I love it anyway.

Also, Ulysses is kind of high level reading. It's comprehencable, but still challenging. I would put it about the same level as Virginia Woolf's To The Lighthouse. Mind boggling!

There's no such work as "The Genuine Islam" by George Bernard Shaw.

Try to buy it - it simply does not exist ANYWHERE, nor is there any record of it ANYWHERE.

The only thing there is are quotations floating around the net like the supposed Napolean Bonepart quotations which are just pure fiction.

Aside from that, Shaw was a die-hard socialist who thought Stalins CCCP was some kind of paradise while tens of millions were starving to death under the agricultural catastrophe that communist reforms directly caused. This is not the kind of person you want to take any personal guidance from for moral point of views. Like many on the left he was witty and a good writer but abysmal when it came to honest appraisal of a political situation.

Salaam Alaikum, for the naysayers out there... George Bernard Shaw did not write "The Genuine Islam" but he is quoted accurately as making the above statement in a public speech by the authors. It was published in Singapore in 1936 and is rarely available in the USA or Europe today. I have seen a copy in a library here in the Philippines.

I hope this clears up the confusion.

A real muslim must also know the teachings of
Prophet Jesus ( Isa) ... do you know them?

read

http://www.cebuspring.com/islam.htm

Prophet Jesus teach that:

" I am the bread of Life," Jesus told them. " Those who come to me will never be hungry; those who believe in me will never be thirsty. ( John 6:35)

"Jesus said her, "I am the resurrection and life. Those who believe in me will live, even though they die;..." ( John 11:25)

How many Muslims know this one......? A genuine muslim must be able also to know and follow the teachings of prophet Jesus not just from Mohammad.

Such claim of prophet Jesus that he is the "life" makes him more important than prophet Mohammad.

It's eithier prophet Jesus is the greatest liar or the greatest prophet of all tim by the words
he claim to be.

I am a genuine Muslim and I believe on the real Islam, by believing that prophet Jesus
is greater than prophet Mohammad and by obeying the teachings of prophet Jesus.

Jesus answered him, " I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one goes to the Father except by me." (John 14:6)

If all muslims study and follow the teachings of prophet Jesus, no muslim would be fighting against each other and against Christians , Hindus or Buddhists...etc...then real Islam (peace) could come. We only fight against false teachings and understanding that tend to blind us.

Are you a genuine Muslim?

real islam, genuine muslim

Salaam,

This is my first comment on your site. I like Shaw, and have read several of his quotes, which are deep and true.

The one I like best is: "Islam is the best religion, with the worst followers."

In my opinion, the reason Muslims fight and face trouble in almost every corner of the world is because the majority do not practice Islam. They may have Muslim names and the world may view them as such, but they are not Muslim when they do not follow or even try to follow the basic tenets of beautiful Islam.

This is simply my opnion, and I feel its the duty of those who practice to bring awareness to others in this regards.

In my college in US, if one did not practice or even try, we did not consider them Muslim. We would be kind and helpful to them and even be friends with them, but not treat them as Muslims.

May Allah's Peace mercy and blessings be upon all of you who have taken religion to be a special topic of discussion. Also I thank Noor for her effort in blogging and promoting peace and harmony amongst her readers , JAZAKI ALLAHU KHAIRAN

well , I'm just a by-passer of this 'Noor' blog,.. and I found a mistake in my brother DATA's comment
the error correction
ALLAH says in His HOLY book;
وما نفرغ بين احد من رسله
"and we make no distinction between one another among them(MESSENGERS)"
this is repeated thrice in the Holy Quran 1. Al-Imran (The Family of Imran) [3:84]
2.Al-Baqara (The Cow) [2:285]
3.Al-Baqara (The Cow) [2:136]
so in context we find prophet Mohamed(PBUH) and prophet jesus (PBUH) are equally imporant

please do forgive me if you found me mistaken at any point of the comment

anything good I have done is from ALLAH and anything bad is from my side

Once again thank you all

Struggling to be a Real Muslim said...

Hi,
I would suggest not to consider a muslim as a non-muslim, even if he does not practice the religion, the way you do. Kindly understand that Islam is composed of 3 things:

1. THE BELIEF:
Just believe in oneness of God and Prophethood of Muhammad(PBUH). And mind you, even if you don’t follow the next 2 things, YOU STILL REMAIN A MUSLIM, just because of this belief.

2. RESPONSIBILITIES TO OTHER HUMAN BEINGS:
(These are termed ‘Haqooq-ul-Ibad’ in Islamic books)
As taught by Prophet Muhammad(PBUH), this is the MAJOR portion of Islam and just means that you BE A GOOD HUMAN BEING (good human being simply by a common man’s definition) e.g be kind and obedient to your parents, be gentle, helping and caring to your family, relatives, 40 neighbors around your home, and all people whom you interact with in life – IRRESPECTIVE OF THEIR RELIGION, and be honest, truthful etc.
If you study Prophet Muhammad’s(PBUH) teachings, 80% of his life and his teachings are about ‘being a good human being’.
By the way, not being a good human is inexcusable in Islam. If you did bad to just one person in life, he alone, can stop you from entering Heavens. So be very very watchful of this part of Islam (which unfortunately most of our Muslim religious scholars do not emphasize at all).
So summing up until now, if you believe in oneness of God and Prophethood of Muhammad(PBUH) and you are a good human being – by a common man’s definition, your 80% ISLAM IS DONE.

3. RESPONSIBILITIES TO GOD:
(These are called ‘Haqooq-ul-Allah’ in the Islamic literature): These include all Islamic practices, e.g offering 5 prayers a day, 30 fasts of Ramazan, offering Hajj, Alms(Zakat) to poor, following the minimum Islamic dress code, etc etc. Not following these, are sins in Islam. Interestingly enough, all of these sins are repent able, and accordingly excusable by God. It’s truly a one-to-one business between you and God.

So my dear, even if you are not fulfilling part 3, but are exceptional in part 2, you are certainly committing sins, but still, you are much better than those, who just do part 3 and forget about being a good human being – they just took home 20% of Islam – a failing grade – whereas you took home 80% of Islam – an exceptional grade – in the light of Prophet Muhammad(PBUH)’s teachings !!!

If you don’t believe in me, kindly go and study Islam for yourself – from any Islamic library, the way it was taught by Prophet, and unfortunately, not the way it is taught in most of the mosques around the world today!!!

I wish and pray, people develop a better understanding and perspective of Islam !

George Bernard Shaw was an evil man. He believed in gas chambers and death panels for those who he believed did not deserve life. He adored Stalin and Musolini. He talked about inventing a humaine kind of gas for the death chambers. Shaw spoke fondly of people having to go before a death panel and explaining why they deserve to live. Socialism and Communism are pure evil and George Bernard Shaw was a plague on society.

maood 16Dear Data
As for ur statement about Jesus(pbuh) is one of the mightiest messenger of Allah and also Prophet Muhammad is the last and final messenger of Allah. A Muslim believe in all the messengers of Allah and believing is one of the articles of Faith in Islam.
As to the teachings of Jesus(pbuh) we as Muslims we believe in his teachings.
Gospel of John: 16:12-14
i have yet many things to say on to you but you cannot bear them now for he when the spirit of truth shall come he shall guide you on to all truth he shall not peak of him self all that he hears shall he speak and he shall testify me he shall glorify me he shall show u things to come.
This is what the book says and what he was saying to his disciples if u analyze it, is talking about Prophet Muhammad(pbuh)and if u are a true believer. Then u follow and this is what Christianity means, and if this is what it means you have now other way but to follow the last an final messenger.
May Allah guide us to the strait path. Ameen

That's a fictitious quote created by pro-Islam sites referencing a book that doesn't exist. Here's Shaw's actual feelings: "Islam is very different, being ferociously intolerant. What I may call Manifold Monotheism becomes in the minds of very simple folk an absurdly polytheistic idolatry, just as European peasants not only worship Saints and the Virgin as Gods, but will fight fanatically for their faith in the ugly little black doll who is the Virgin of their own Church against the black doll of the next village. When the Arabs had run this sort of idolatry to such extremes [that] they did this without black dolls and worshipped any stone that looked funny, Mahomet rose up at the risk of his life and insulted the stones shockingly, declaring that there is only one God, Allah, the glorious, the great… And there was to be no nonsense about toleration. You accepted Allah or you had your throat cut by someone who did accept him, and who went to Paradise for having sent you to Hell."

That quote has been debunked as fake by many people.
Besides that, Shaw was famously an atheist who hated all religion.
However, Shaw did say this about Muhammad and Islam:
"Islam is very different, being ferociously intolerant. You accepted Allah or you had your throat cut by someone who did accept him, and who went to Paradise for having sent you to Hell."
