I will not pray till you answer my questions!
A story about a young man went to foreign country to study for few years and then he went back to his original country. His family was thrilled by his returning and makes a special reception for him. However, when a prayer time came,, he refused to go to pray with them in nearby mosque and said: I won't pray with you unless one of your great sheiks come to answer my 3 questions first!
So, one of his family members brought a good scholar.
The scholar said to that young man: what are your questions?
The young man replied: and do you think you can answer my questions while many people before you couldn't?!!
The scholar said: let's try and God help us!
The young man replied: my 3 questions are:
1- Is God really existing?! If he does, show me his form.
2- What is Divine Fate or Decree?
3- if Satan is made with fire, so how he will be tortured in hell and fire will not hurt him anyway?!
So, When the young man said what he has,, the scholar slapped him toughly on his face that made him burn with pain!!
The young man got mad and said: why did you do that?! You couldn’t find an answer!!
The scholar replied: I did, and my answer is with this SLAP!
The young man said: I don't get it!
The scholar replied: what do you feel after I slapped you!
The young man said: horrible pain!!!!
The scholar replied: so, you think that pain existing!
The young man said: SURE!! I'm still feeling it!!
The scholar replied: Then, can you show me this pain and its form?!
The young man said: I can't!!!!
The scholar replied: so, this is my answer toward your first question. We feel that God existing with his marks, signs, …etc,,, even though we can't see him!
The scholar added then: did you dream that someone will slap you on your face?!
The young man said: NO!!
The scholar added: did anyone tell you that I will slap you today or have you got any knowledge about this before?!!
The young man said: NO!!!!
The scholar replied: this is the Divine Fate,,, we don't know what will happen before it happens!
The scholar added: my hand that slapped you now, can you tell me which material that made of,,, the origin material?!
The young man said: Clay!!
The scholar added: and your face?!
The young man said: Clay too!!!
The scholar replied: and what did you feel after I slapped you?!
The young man said: Real Pain!!!
The scholar replied: Exactly,,, that goes with Satan as well! God made him with Fire,, and Fire in Hell will be real pain and real torture for him too.
After that, The young man convinced and went to pray with that scholar,, and became good Muslim.

My brother told me this story when he heard it for first time in a religious program. Then, I found this story this week in a newspaper and I decided to translate it for you because it's really worthy!

Salam,
sure it's really worthy ;)
Al7amdolilah for being Muslim :)
thanks for sharing dear sis , GOD bless you :)
Noor: Ahhh....one of the best stories I've heard in years. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us. Indeed, one should be greatful everyday for being a Muslim. I think if one should be able to see God with the naked eye, then one would probably collapse because God is unimaginable to us mere mortals. God is great and like no other. Reading the part on divine fate, the name Nostradamus came to mind. It's mind boggling to realize that this man could predict important events way into the future. I wonder what you think of that Noor???
Assalamu'alaikum Noor, :)
yeas a very nice story. thanks a lot! :D may Allah Bless you.
Mona dear, thank u for dropping by,, ur visits make me happy. I hope u r doing well in ur life.
I knew it's worthy and for that I wanted to share it with all of u ;)
Cal, welcome dear. I'm glad u liked it,, I really love such good stories,, so,, share it with others is great thing, and being a Muslim is a grace and we should be grateful for this.
Yes indeed!! There is nothing like God and any human can't stand looking at God, that reminded me with Prophet Moses when he asked God to see him, so, God replied: u will not see me "which means u can't handle to see me", but look at the mountain,,, if the mountain stays the same u will see me, so when God appears to that mountain, the mountain collapsed!! And Moses fall down,,, so if the collapse of the mountain did that t ohim, how he will handle looking at GOD himself!!!
Read this from Holy Quran:
((And when Moses came to Our appointed tryst and his Lord had spoken unto him, he said: My Lord! Show me (Thy self), that I may gaze upon Thee. He said: Thou will not see Me, but gaze upon the mountain! If it stand still in its place, then thou will see Me. And when his Lord revealed (His) glory to the mountain He sent it crashing down. And Moses fell down senseless. And when he woke he said: Glory unto Thee! I turn unto Thee repentant, and I am the first of (true) believers.))
7:143 Al A'raf
Who's Nostradamus?!!! Is he a seer?!!
We all love to predict or want to know if we will make a success in some stuffs, but only God knows and no one know the hidden future! Even the seers themselves don't know their own future, if they know future; they can be the richest people of this world!
If anyone deserves to know the future will be prophets, but they didn't know and they only carried God's message to people,, and had no power to control anyone's future. Right!!
We said in Arabic (كذب المنجمون و لو صدقوا)
Which means: (seers are liars even if they did say something and happened). Absolutely true!!
Nisa: Salam dear. I'm happy u liked this story. I found new lovely one, but still need translation :)
salam :)
WOW great story Thank you for sharing this with us
i love it i love the story and I love ut blog
great story: the scholar knew how to make a point. I assume the young man had been made a 'sceptic' by secular education. And the scholar knew how to deal with that.
May I add another little story: some young soldiers were dicussing the existence of God and just when one of them said
"until science proves God exists, I will not believe it" the Priest came walking by. The soldier said
"oops! forgive me, minister" but the minister replied
"it's quite alright, one cannot prove theologically that atoms exist".
Michel de Notre Dame was a French renaissance seer, who wrote some prophetic verses. The verses are so obscure , one can read almost anything out of them.
"seers are liars even if they did say something and happened"
One should be very careful with seers. I absolutely agree w/that.
Mona and Cal, should I be ungrateful for not being Muslim ? If I understand correctly, just being Muslim is not a free ticket to Paradise in itself. This story would be just as valid in a Christian context. If I'd read it on - say - Tristan's blog it would make as good a point as here.
Noor, keep them drops of wisdom coming.
Like much of the Qur'an including verses such as; 7:143 Al A'raf, there is much borrowing and retelling of Biblical scripture. I don't really know why God would need to say things twice, but I think if Alah said it again (twice), then it must have been important for Muslims to know, but I doubt things changed much from the first version which existed 800+ years earlier in the Tora, and later the Bible. I think it's important to know what God said the first time... because as we know, at this time (the time of Moses before Mohammad) there was no corruption of the text (i.e. Holy Tora). They were written by Moses in the original Hebrew and collected by the Jewish culture both orally and by writ. After all the Jews are God's chosen people, and this is exactly what this verse -both in the Bible and Koran points out in its full context.
(Exodus 33: 17-21)
17 And the LORD said to Moses, "I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name."
18 Then Moses said, "Now show me your glory."
19 And the LORD said, "I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 20 But," he said, "you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live."
21 Then the LORD said, "There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock. 22 When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. 23 Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen."
Noor: Tq for the Moses story :)
Halalhippie: U r right :) Being a Muslim doesnt guarantee a place in heaven. I know many Muslims living un-Islamic lives, and sometimes i am one of them, so who am i to judge. I apologize if my comments offend you.
Halalhippie: I'm so happy u liked the story. Yes indeed! He knew how to convince that young man. :)
Nice story Hippie,, as for seers, they try to make impressive impression on normal people to believe them, so if what they said happened , they will say we told you, and if that didn't happen, they probably will say it's ur fault, ur negative energy caused that or because u didn't believe in it,,,,,,,, lots of excuses to prove they are not to be blamed on!
Yes, I made a search later about this Nostradamus, u know,,, curiosity!! But, honestly, I don't care about these people!
Dear, they didn't mean that, I assume we all believe in One God that created everything, we believe in him without seeing him, we believe his messengers even we didn't meet them.. We share lots of things as believers in GOD almighty.
Let me answer u here, u said:
"just being Muslim is not a free ticket to Paradise in itself."
Absolutely! To be Muslim is not a guaranty to go to paradise directly without reckoning; it's all depending on ur good/bad deeds.
how can we imagine someone go to paradise because he/she follows such sect or religion ,,, even if the Muslim did good deeds for the sake of God, he could be go to paradise, NOT FOR SURE, ONLY IF GOD SAY THAT! Same thing goes with all humans!
So, if u hippie believed in God and did ur best to be good and useful for sake of God,,,, I'm sure god will appreciate ur good deeds as we know his mercy is endless. God said: my mercy precedes my anger!
What makes God happy with us is when we do good things to build this world and help all creatures not only humans.
Hope u get it dear, trust in God and he will show u the righteous path.
Another story came to my mind now: narrated that there was a man who lived alone on a mountain, he dedicated his life to worship GOD and do nothing else, so he spent his life to worship GOD, he used to go down to specific tree that gives him fruits,,, so he only worship and take fruits from that tree. When he died, GOD said to him enter my paradise because my generosity and my Graces! But that man said: no, I shall enter for my deeds and my worships. So, God said: okay, as you wish. So, God asked angels to compare his whole life worships and deeds and what God gave him,, so they put that man works on one pan of a balance and when they put only the grace of hearing on the other side,,, all his works became nothing. So, God didn't punish him for his request or audacity,, he only said: now, enter my paradise with my mercy!!
My father told me this story, I liked it so much!
Tristan: well, I'm still waiting for my copy of bible, but I think I will try my plan B. anyway, a question came up to my mind, what's different between Bible and Torah?!!! Aren't the same stories of prophets?!!
So, yes, I think God wants us to follow and learn from prophets stories and take them as a model.
Did u read Torah or Talmud Tristan?! I found information about some texts in Talmud, so I made a search about it, but I didn't prepare a post about that information. I don't know! I forgot!! Many things occupied my mind at that time; well I will try to find a time to make this post!!
Cal: u r wonderful! God Bless u!
oh my god, Munther, Sorry!! i thought i thanked u,,,
thank u so much dear for ur kind words.
Forgive me!
cal, not at all. I merely make the point. I believe God judges us, not by what language we speak to Him in, but by our deeds.
As Tristan says, the story is not confined to Islam.
Tristan "why God needs to tell things twice" ? I guess we humans are not as bright as we think. :-) God tells us of His greatness at every sunrise, and mostly we don't even notice.
oh, and the diff.btwn Torah and Bible ? Short story is Bible has 2 books, one about Jewish history (Old Testament) one about Jesus/Isa (New Testament)
I'll let Tristan take it from here. He's the xpert.
Shokran, Noor, for ur kind words and the 2nd story.
Noor-
The Talmud is equivilant to the Muslim Sunnah. The Talmud contains the 'cultural' laws of Jews. It is Jewish laws, according to how they should live.
The Torah, is the first five books of the Old Testament, and are the original Jewish recordings of Adam, Eve, Satan, Moses, and Abraham. Jewish culture has also kept the Torah alive in oral form, as such the Bible has never been corrupted. How do I know? Jews would have realized it and corrected it if it were.
The Gospels are the historical documents which cover Christ's life. They are the literal translation of the Dead Sea Scrolls, some of which can be seen in the London Museum of Art and History.
Obviously, Jesus Christ is refered and referenced by many people of that time period, including sources outside of the Bible, such as: Tacitus, Suetonius, Flavius Josephus, Julius Africanus, Thallus, and Talmud among others all recall Christ's crucifixion and death on the cross. Others recall his ressurection. This massive historical evidence only confirms the truth contained in the Gospels.
Granted, there are various modern day translations of the 'Bible' the source material, in large, still exists and can be referenced. Whether it is the oral tradition of Jewish custom or actual documentation, almost all translations of the Bible are credible -and uncorrupted. Some are more poetic, thus more beautiful, in my opinion though.
I like the New King James and NIV translations the best. I have read 8 translations of the Bible (in case you were wondering).
Halalhippie,, yes indeed, words of wisdom. That we know,, God who created us and he made us different nations and tribes with different colors, languages, traditions, nations, etc!
Afwaan,,, and Thank u dear, u were great in ur words!
Tristan, so what i read was right,, Talmud isn't a Holy Book, but written by Jewish scholars. Okay, that really good information Tristan, but u said
(and Talmud among others all recall Christ's crucifixion and death on the cross. Others recall his resurrection). How come?! Sorry, I could be misunderstand this, but if Talmud is documenting Jews life in the period of prophet Moses and Torah, how it mentioned about Jesus and he came later!!!
Well, that very impressive indeed! U read 8 different copies of Bible!,,,, I see, okay, I already sent a letter for a copy of bible without specification, but maybe I will specify in my plan B for New King James and NIV translations. I hope this will work!
Thank u,, I really appreciate ur help!
